Hi,
Apparently the address on our building was “wrong” and has been updated to 251., though G****e still thinks otherwise. We used to think it was 249, as the door said, but apparently that number belongs to our neighbors and they asked for it back. Our door now says 251* (fka 249). Hope you don’t get too confused!

Time is Away and RVNG Intl. will Present Sounds [9.19]
RVNG Intl. is resurrecting the spirit of the Commend happenings that we all dearly miss. This will soon be a regular occurrence here. We are kicking it off with a proper Present Sounds/RVNG collaboration. Last years Making Time preparty was unforgettable, and I think this one will be too. Jack and Elaine of Time is Away will be joining us.
Chriag Davé, Alex Zhang Hungtai and Qasim Naqvi [9.20]
Qasim has played at the studio a few times. I made a tape of one of his sets here off WLSD radio airwaves and listen to it often. I’m always excited to see what he get’s into. The rest of the folks on this bill are new to me, and that’s exciting.

I’m thrilled that Sam and Jared’s Unheard series is back with us this month. Kalia , hot off her stand at Blue Note with Shabaka, will lead a a trio for a night of improv that’s sure to please. This one will sell out, so please set your intentions early!
Laraaji Sunrise w/ KG & fieldtalk [9.22]
Laraaji is back to welcome the vernal season with another sunrise session. I’m still beaming from the summer edition of this collaboration. The formula is simple and not unlike a DSLEEPOVER. Doors are at midnight, Vin and I explore some sounds we’ve been recording/collecting, and Laraaji plays a live set when the sun comes up. You are welcome (encouraged) to come spend the night with us and have one of the most gentle awakenings of your life…..
